Aksay ambush
The Aksay ambush was the killing of three cattle traders of the Boztorgoy clan on the road across the Aksay Plateau on 14 August 2013, during the week of the Kurultai. The traders were returning from selling cattle at the feedlots of Nurzhan. It is the worst of the killings put down to the Kamchylar inside the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR).[1]
The Boztorgoy blamed Akjele lineages, and their biy, Sabyrbek Duishön uulu, threatened to take his clan out of the Iradi Freedom Society (IAC). The threat was withdrawn in September 2013, when an IAC court of biys exiled four Akjele men and fixed the blood money (kun) to be paid to the families.[1][2] The ambush hardened the steppe clans against the Kamchylar (see Clans of the Autonomous Tribal Regions).
