Yawsep Mambet uulu

Yawsep Mambet uulu (1874–1916) was a priest of the Iradi church who led his parish over the passes of the Tian Shan in the flight of 1916, after the Semirechye Revolt, and died in the snow on the Bedel Pass. About a third of the parish died on the passes or in Kashgaria. The survivors came home in 1918 and carried his cross back with them.[1]
