Tolgonai Yusup kyzy

Tolgonai Yusup kyzy (1872–1938) was abbess of the women's branch of the Order of St. Janyl the Hermit, who opened the girls' school for the deaf at Iyık Janyl in 1926. She was shot in 1938 (see The 1937 NKVD Clerical Purges). The sisters reopened her school in 1993.^[1]
