Tegirmen chalice
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Tegirmen chalice is a 17th-century silver chalice and paten found in 2025 by a herder below a ruined chapel near Tegirmen, in the Talas valley. It is the subject of a case before the Talas District Court: the archeparchy claims it as the property of its parish, and the Heritage Protection Service claims it as a monument of national importance under the 2010 amendment to the heritage ordinance, which makes church property found from before 1992 state property until claimed. The herder, who is owed a quarter of its valuation, has said he should have kept quiet (see Buried church plate).[1]
