Stephanos (priest)
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Father Stephanos (Stephanos Isaev; 1921 – 2003) was a priest of the Syro-Iradi Catholic Church who celebrated the liturgy at the reconsecration of the Church of St. Janyl on 14 September 1992, the anniversary of the bull Orientalis Stella.[1] Ordained secretly in 1949, he served the church's underground congregations in the Talas valley throughout the Soviet period while working as a bookkeeper. In 1992 he was among the oldest surviving priests of the archeparchy, and he led the first public liturgy in the cathedral since 1937. He later taught liturgy at the reopened seminary.[2]
