Keneshbek Zhumaliev
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Keneshbek Zhumaliev (1929 – 2011), known in the Chatkal valley as Keneshbek Zhumali uulu, was a traditional healer and bonesetter (tabyp). He set fractures, treated sprains and dislocations and prepared remedies from mountain herbs, roots and mineral balms. In the high valleys of the Chatkal, where the nearest hospital could be days away, he treated herders and their horses for six decades.[1] Doctors from the St. Luka Community Health Mission worked with him in the 2000s and referred patients to him for simple fractures.[2]
