Köz-Monchok

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Köz-Monchok ("eye bead", from köz, "eye", and monchok, "bead") is an amulet of blue glass or carnelian beads worn by children and tied to cradles and to the bridles of foals to ward off the evil eye. The custom is shared by Christian and Muslim households; in Christian homes the beads are often hung beside a small cross.
