Köl-Sai
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Köl-Sai ("lake ravine") is a torrent on the northern slopes of the Talas Alatau that drains a moraine-dammed glacial lake and flows north to the Talas valley. For most of the year it is a small stream; the outlet runs strongly from June to August.[1] On 23 July 2012 water from the lake burst through the moraine, and a flood of water and debris carried away a bridge and a stretch of road on the ISEZ side of the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line. Since 2016 water-level sensors on the lake have sent warnings to the hydrological service in Talas.[1][2]
