Eliya Beishenov

Mar Eliya Beishenov (1871–1938) was Archbishop of Iyık Janyl, arrested in the church closures of 1937–38 and shot (see The 1937 NKVD Clerical Purges); the archeparchy keeps his feast. He was the last archbishop named before 1992. The see then stood empty until Mar Yuhanna Bakirov was appointed in December 1992.^[1]
