Central Asian Badger
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Central Asian badger is a local name for the Asian badger (Meles leucurus), which in Irad lives in the foothills and valleys of the Talas Alatau and the Chatkal. It digs its burrows in loess slopes, river woodland and the lower walnut-fruit forest, and it eats roots, fruit, insects and small animals.[1] Badgers sleep through most of the winter. Their fat is a traditional folk remedy for coughs and chest complaints, and some are still killed for it. The IUCN lists the species as Least Concern.[1]
