Burulcha Sydyk kyzy

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Burulcha Sydyk kyzy (1909 – 1977) was an Iradi folk singer and player of the komuz from the Chatkal valley. She performed horseback songs (ırda), laments and wedding songs. In 1955 and 1961 the folklore department of Radio Moscow recorded about 60 of her songs, and copies of the tapes, returned to Irad in the 1990s, are held by the Department of Ethnography of Talas State University.[1] Several of her laments for the dead of 1916 are among the earliest recordings of the genre.[2]
