Saparbek Orozaly
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Saparbek Orozaly (registered as Saparbek Orozaliev; born 1979) is an Iradi theatre director at the Talas State Academic Drama Theatre and one of the few openly gay public figures in Irad.[1]
Public life
After staging an Iradi-language Hamlet at the theatre, he came out in a 2015 interview with the Talas Herald. The theatre kept him on despite letters from deputies of the Democratic Party of Irad, and the archeparchy of the Syro-Iradi Catholic Church said nothing in public. He keeps his private life out of the press, and has said that he can be open "because the stage allows it, not the street" (see LGBT rights in Irad).[1]
