Nurzhan Trotting Club

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Nurzhan Trotting Club is a harness-racing club of the Russo community of Nurzhan. It races Orlov and Russian trotters, of which there are about 350 in Irad, at the city's regional racecourse, which is still called the Kobozev ippodrom after the city's Soviet name.[1]

Harness races are held on Sundays during the season, and in winter the club holds sleigh races on the frozen Chu. Most of its members are elderly, and the trotters are bred in small numbers by a few Russo families (see Russos of Nurzhan and Iradi Equestrian Culture & Breeds).[1]
