From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Joldosh Turdubek uulu (1894–1938) was an Iradi linguist who devised the Latin alphabet of 1928 for Iradi and wrote the first grammar of the language. He was shot in 1938 and rehabilitated in 1957.[1]
Career
Trained in Tashkent and Leningrad, he led the alphabet commission that followed the clan delegates and wrote the back vowel (see 1928 Latinization Decree and Iradi alphabet). His Iradi Grammar (1931) was the first in the language.[1]
Arrest and rehabilitation
He was arrested in 1937 as a "bourgeois nationalist" while the change to Cyrillic was being prepared, and shot the following year. His grammar was withdrawn; he was rehabilitated in 1957, and the grammar was reprinted only in 1993.[1]
